  • 2. St. Patrick was born in Wales, as a child he was kidnapped and taken to Ireland by pirates, he was a slave there for 6 years.
  • 3. He became a bishop and returned to Ireland to convert Irish people to Christianity, he used a SHAMROCK as a symbol to explain the concept of “trinity”
  • 4. Patrick died on the 17 th March, and this day the whole world commemorates his life with different parades, the most important ones in: 1. Dublin ( Republic of Ireland) 2. New York (USA) 3. Chicago (USA) they turn the river green!!!
  • 5. In Ireland it rains from 150 to 225 days a year, so everything is green, this is why Ireland is called the EMERALD ISLE, just have a look on Google MAPS
  • 6. As it rains a lot …believe it or not there are more sheep than humans in the island!!!
  • 7. The HARP is a typical Irish instrument as well as an Irish Symbol… Fun fact: The Irish government had to turn it over (to the left side) so as not to use the Guinness symbol which “looks right”

Irish tradition says that if you catch a leprechaun he will grant you three wishes for releasing him. The legend also says that you can find his pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. It’s there where he has hidden it
