Parents should call the rectory at least four weeks in advance, and must attend instructions, which are held on the third Thursday of the month. Church Law requires that only Catholics in good standing are eligible to be Godparents. No Baptisms will be scheduled during Lent. Anointing of the Sick: We offer this sacrament to those who are seriously ill, at home or in the hospital. We urge you to contact the office before someone goes to the hospital for an operation. (A priest may not be available later) Ministry of the Sick: Holy Communion will be brought to the sick, upon request. The bedridden or chronically ill can be placed on the Eucharistic Ministers visitation schedule. Wedding: Engaged couples must make arrangements in person, at the office at least six months in advance. Parish Membership: We welcome all new members to our parish. Please register at the office, by phone or in person. Registration forms are available at the entrances to the Churches. Also, please notify the office if your address has changed or if you would like to be added to the weekly envelope system. Saint Christopher and Saint Patrick Collections Regular Collection Maintenance & Insurance $6, $1, Update on Handicap Entrance, Rectory & Office Renovation Project: Our construction is complete for the office space and handicap entrance. We collected funding of 75%. We still need another $20,000 to reach our goal for the second phase of our renovation which includes the living quarters. Your tax deductible donation is welcomed & appreciated & needed to make Father George s goal a reality for the merging of St. Christopher & St. Patrick Church. JUEVES 25 DE MAYO ASCENCION DEL SEÑOR Santa Misa a las 7:30 pm. Es día de obligación de asistir a Misa SEXTO DOMINGO DE PASCUA. En la lectura de hoy de los Hechos, Felipe, que había ayudado a resolver la disputa sobre la distribución de los alimentos, que escuchamos el domingo pasado, evangeliza a Samaria, lo cual es una consecuencia positiva y guiada por el Espíritu de la persecución y dispersión que resultó del martirio de Esteban. En otras palabras, lejos de destruir a la joven Iglesia, las persecuciones extendieron la comunidad tanto geográfica como demográficamente. En la misión y ministerio de Felipe, el libro de los Hechos ilustra la diversificación de ministerios a medida que la Iglesia se iba extendiendo. Cuando Pedro y Juan son enviados podemos apreciar en esa visita la determinación simultánea de mantener el vínculo visible de comunión con el liderazgo apostólico en Jerusalén. La imposición de manos de los apóstoles impartiendo el don del Espíritu evoca la visita de nuestros propios obispos a las parroquias para celebrar el sacramento de la confirmación. El libro de los Hechos no recuerda hoy y el domingo pasado que ni las confusiones internas ni los ataques desde el exterior, que surgieran por vivir nuestro compromiso bautismal dentro de la comunidad humana de la Iglesia, deben desanimarnos. Desarrollando esta idea, la primera carta del apóstol san Pedro resume la misión (interna y externa) de los bautizados y confirmados: que veneren en sus corazones a Cristo y que estemos dispuestos siempre a dar, al que las pidiere, las razones de [nuestra] esperanza, pero que lo hagamos con sencillez y respeto. Dado que el mismo Maestro sufrió y también sufrieron nuestros antepasados en la fe, no debe sorprendernos ni descorazonarnos cuando compartimos ese aspecto del dar testimonio. El don del Paráclito, el Espíritu de la verdad, habitará para siempre en la comunidad si cumplimos los mandamientos de Jesús de amarnos mutuamente y entregarnos al servicio desinteresado. JOSEPH F.
